Key Features and Updates

The T170’s chassis and powertrain are built for serious hauling, but its big-rig style delivers more than you expect. “A straight truck in a 4 x 2 configuration with a gross vehicle weight rating up to 19,500 lbs, the Kenworth T170 is a robust Class 5 model designed to go the distance.” (Source

On the outside, the T170 features a single-piece steel bumper positioned forward of the hood to help minimize impact damage. The sheet-molded composite (SMC) hood tilts a full 90 degrees for superior engine access for ease of service. Halogen projector low-beam headlamps provide greater reach and three times the lifespan of traditional sealed-beam lights.

This model’s standard features include “hydraulic brakes, low-frame height chassis with 19.5 in. wheels and tires, power door locks, and Kenworth DayLite doors with right-hand peeper window.” (Source)

Inside, the cab is much like that of its larger siblings with an ergonomic, wrap-around dash with clear, easy-to-reach gauges and controls. The fully trimmed interior can be equipped with a tilt and telescoping steering column, an electronic shift module, air ride seats, remote keyless entry, and a center console/workstation are just a few of the additional options available to buyers.

The Kenworth T170 offers a multitude of job-specific and appearance options, most commonly added at the time of order or during lot purchase. These additional features include:

  • Heated and electronically-adjustable aerodynamic mirrors
  • Polished aluminum tanks in multiple diameters and capacities
  • Factory-installed front drive axles with capacities from 10,000 to 16,000 lbs
  • Cab corner windows
  • Heavy-duty front frame extension
  • Narrow battery box under cab with DEF tank
  • Narrow toolbox on passenger side
  • Center console with two power ports, cup holder, and convenient storage
