Heavy-Duty Chassis & Frame

One of the standout features of the Kenworth T470 was its heavy-duty chassis. It features full-parent rail extensions and a heat-treated 120,000-psi steel frame designed to resist bending along the frame rails. Heavy-duty crossmembers and three-hole gussets added even more strength, giving the T470 the durability needed for demanding vocational applications. Plus, the service-friendly design made it easy to replace crossmembers without special tools.

Hood, Grille, Body & PTO

The T470’s fixed-grille hood was specifically engineered around vocational applications. Its 50.5-inch bumper setting provides convenient access for installing front-engine PTO equipment, making it a great fit for trucks equipped with front-mounted winches, hydraulic pumps, snowplows, and other specialized equipment. The T470’s exterior also offered a range of features including:
